Elfriede "Elfy" L. (Hartwich) Lazo

Elfy L. Lazo, a beloved resident of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on August 3, 1930, in Berlin, Germany, she grew up in Iceland and eventually moved to the United States. Elfy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.

As a devoted homemaker, Elfy was the cornerstone of her family, always providing a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones. Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her family as she devoted her time to volunteering at nursing homes in the Glen Burnie area, bringing joy and comfort to those in need.

Besides spending time with her family, Elfy loved being at the beach and the ocean. Elfy was also an active member in several churches, where she found a community that shared her faith and values in Christ.

Elfy is survived by her loving children, Jörgen Lazo of Severn, Kurt Steinbach of Northeast, Angie Williams of Severna Park, Wolfgang Johanson of Reykjavik Iceland, and Kulburn Högnadottir of Reykjavik Iceland; her nine cherished grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Gertrud A. Hartwich, and her beloved spouse, Cesar P. Lazo.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elfy's life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and again from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm. 

Elfy's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and community.
