Elaine Janice Griffin, 77, a lifelong resident of Maryland, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mrs. Griffin was born September 23,1945 in Baltimore, MD. to the late Edward Jannen Doran and Gladys Mildred Litz. In her younger years, Mrs. Griffin worked for the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and then went on to work for for Suzanne's Florist for 10 years until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting fossils at Calvert Cliffs with her husband David, as well as trips to the Oglala Indian Reservation in South Dakota. She loved gardening, planting flowers, and reading. She also was an excellent cook. A selfless person, Mrs. Griffin dedicated her time to raising her family, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was described as an independent woman who was forthcoming and would serve as the "mouthpiece" of the family. She left nothing unsaid and had no problem telling anyone exactly how she felt.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin is preceded in death by her step-mother who raised her, Virginia Doran and sister Evelyn Janet Garofalo. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David James Griffin; children, Kimberly Lynn Hynson, William Henry Hynson IV; step-son, Paul David Griffin; sisters, Edra Janette Musselman, Elene Judith Lawrence; grandchildren Adam Lee Sullivan, Joshua David Sullivan, Payton Mackenzie Hynson, Sydney Nadine Hynson; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Nicole Sullivan, Avery Lynn Sullivan, Lillian Claire Sullivan, Nadia Nicole Sullivan, and Abigail Lee Sullivan.
Friends may call Monday, September 25th from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where services will be held at 8:00 pm. Interment is private.
