Edward Burg Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Arthur Burg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Edward, affectionately known as Ed, was a long-time resident of Pasadena, Maryland. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday, February 8, 1937, to the late Carl John Burg and Anna Margaret Burg.

Ed's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, hard work, and a sense of adventure. As a talented mechanic, he applied his skill and precision to his profession, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his work, Ed led a life filled with the simple joys of nature and craftsmanship. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in deer hunting, fishing, crabbing, and boating. His passion for woodworking was evident in the beautiful furniture he crafted—tables, chairs, lamps—each piece a testament to his creativity and attention to detail.

Remarkably, Ed also indulged in the art of distillation, creating five distinct types of brandy that were enjoyed by many. His green thumb and love for gardening were famous among those who knew him, as he generously shared the abundant vegetables he grew with family, friends, and neighbors.

Travel held a special place in Ed's heart, and he relished every opportunity to explore new destinations through cruises and adventures. His quick wit and jovial nature left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered; he loved nothing more than to tease and joke with those around him, all in good fun.

He is survived by his devoted spouse of 64 years, Else Burg, who stood by his side lovingly in Pasadena, MD. Ed cherished his family deeply and leaves behind his children, Mark William Burg (Susan), Matthew Carl Burg (Amy), and Cindy Hurst (Steven). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Courtney Burg, Jeremy Burg, Shane Hurst (Kassidey), and Zachary Hurst; and his great-grandson, Lucas Hurst.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Carl John Burg and Anna Margaret Burg, as well as his sister, Anna Mary Furbee, and brothers, Charles Pete Burg and James Burg.

The family invites all who knew and loved Ed to join them in celebrating his life. An afternoon visitation will be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by an evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Stallings Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Interment is private.

May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished by those he loved and those who loved him.
