Edith Anderson Obituary

Edith “Regina” Anderson was born January 21, 1932, to Edith Irene and Charles Richard at her childhood home in Millersville Maryland. It was at this same home where she passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by the love of her family Monday evening, November 4th, 2024.

Regina grew up on a chicken farm with her parents and brother.  This is where she learned to love cooking, baking, and sewing.  In her free time Regina enjoyed being part of the photography club at Glen Burnie High School. It was here that she met the love of her life, George Samuel Anderson.

After graduation, the two were married at Glen Burnie Methodist Church.  Regina began working at the National Enameling and Stamping Company (NESCO) in Baltimore.  Regina and George moved to Guam when he was stationed there during the Korean war.  While there Regina worked with Pan American Airlines.

Regina and George returned home and began work on building their lifelong home just two doors down from that of her parents.  Here they had two daughters: Denise and Lauren.  Regina taught her daughters how to cook and sew and had a special flair for do-it-yourself crafts such as floral arrangements, ribbon flowers, glittery balls of Christmas card scenes and mistletoe and holiday wreathes.  She made every holiday special with her famous fudge, cookies, pies, costumes, and decorations and instilled the importance of tradition.  She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness.

Regina loved music whether it was listening to Frank Sinatra and Burl Ives or traveling to Davidsonville, Middle River, Severna Park, or Annapolis to square dance.  For years she drove her daughters down to Annapolis for their weekly piano lessons, she volunteered for the Severna Park High School Band and is fondly remembered for her beautiful voice as she sang songs with her family on long car rides.

Regina loved to travel to Ocean City with her parents and spent time with her family in Cape Hatteras NC and Chincoteague VA.  She loved going flounder fishing, crabbing, and clamming on Assateague Island.  She had a way of making the many bike rides around the nature trails exciting by looking for the wild ponies, deer, and playful muskrats.  In the evenings she would sit around the family table and play cards with her family.  She loved her family more than anything and we are grateful and blessed to have known such unconditional love.  She will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Samuel Anderson, sister-in-law Rikki Anderson, nephew Eric Anderson and brother Charles Richard.  She is survived by her daughters Denise Anderson and Lauren (Steve) Damm, grandchildren Ryan, Tyler and Anderson Bloomer and Ashley and Stephen Damm, her brother-in-law Robert Anderson, and nieces Michelle and Karen Anderson.

A viewing for friends and family will be held Saturday, November 9th from 10:30 to 12:30 at Stallings Funeral Home - 3111 Mountain Rd. Pasadena.  A short graveside service will immediately follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.  There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our family, friends, and co-workers for their caring support, love and prayers during our moms decline.  Also, a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Chesapeake who were a Godsend when everything felt like it was falling apart.  Their help, knowledge, kindness and understanding are a testament to all that is good in our world. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Chesapeake, HERE.
