It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Marie Slone, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully left this world on Monday, August 18th, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in Oak City, North Carolina, on Wednesday, December 12th, 1928, Doris spent nearly 80 years making her home in Baltimore, Maryland, where she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness.
Doris was the cherished daughter of the late Coy and Nora Hopewell and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lannie Slone, as well as her son, Larry Slone, her daughter, Diane "Neecie" Strohmer, and two siblings who have gone before her. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Linda Slone and Kathy Rogers, along with her son-in-law, Kirk Rogers. Doris was a proud grandmother to her two precious granddaughters, Kaela and Kensington Rogers, and three step-grandchildren.
Doris was known for her gentle demeanor and caring nature, She loved baking and cooking Southern cuisine. Doris’s life was brightened by her enjoyment of Southern gospel music, as well as her penchant for solving word searches and playing board games, especially during cherished vacations with her granddaughters. Her love for the color pink, fresh flowers and lace added a touch of elegance to her everyday life.
A dedicated and skilled worker, Doris spent over 32 years at Westinghouse her last position as a Radar System Technician before retiring. She was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where she fostered lifelong friendships and shared her talents.
Doris will be deeply missed by her very close friends and caregivers, Dell Brooks, Wanda O'Keeffe, and Nancy Lee, who stood by her side with unwavering support and affection. Her legacy of love, patience, and grace will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during an Afternoon Visitation on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and an Evening Visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at 10:30 am, where we will celebrate the remarkable life of Doris Marie Slone. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park
