Doris Marie Covert, 103, a resident of Pasadena, Maryland for most of her life, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Morning Side House of Friendship.
She was born on Wednesday, August 11th, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John Calvin Bayne and Lillie May Bayne (nee Harrison). During World War II Mrs. Covert worked for the Linen Thread Company making camouflage nets. Later, during the 60's and 70's she worked for Whelans Drug Store in Brooklyn, then the MVA in Glen Burnie from 1977-1990 and then Kurtz Beach from 2006 until 2010 . Mrs. Covert attended Solly United Methodist Church. She was a life member of Stoney Creek Democratic Club and the Roland Terrace Democratic Club, a charter member of the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Curtis Bay Senior Center. She enjoyed going to McDonalds in Riviera Beach for breakfast with many of her friends 3-4 times a week, crocheting baby sweaters, and singing at the senior clubs.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Carl Eugene Covert, her sons Richard M. Covert and Carl D. Covert, her brother, Calvin Bayne, her sister, Lillian Jordan, and her daughter-in-law Gladys Covert.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Patricia Covert, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and dedicated friends John Mason and Debbie Lurz.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, April 22nd, 2024 at Stallings Funeral Home Pasadena, Maryland from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at which time funeral services will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
