Deanna Lynn Baldwin, 65, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, died on June 27, 2021 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mrs. Baldwin was born on December 16, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to Henry Schmidt and the late Mary Hildebrand. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1973 and attended UMBC and UMD, College Park. She later began a career with the Maryland Department of Agriculture where she served for 43 years and was twice named the Employee of the Year, also receiving a recent award from SERMA for her tireless work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Deanna was very passionate about her work, known throughout the Maryland agriculture community as an expert in her field who goes out of her way to assist others. She particularly enjoyed mentoring those new to the agriculture field and providing support to small farms. Deanna also held leadership positions as the Executive Director of the Maryland Egg Council and Assistant Director of the National Egg Quality School’s executive committee, among many other professional accolades. Outside of work, she volunteered with the Hancock's Resolution Foundation and was a member of Magothy United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing Scrabble, sewing, gardening, attending concerts, cooking meals for her extended family, hunting for seashells along the shore, and spending time with her daughter.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Baldwin is preceded in death by her step-father, Charles Hildebrand. She is survived by her father, Henry Schmidt; step-mother, Marie Baehr; husband of 37 years, David Baldwin; daughter, Allison Baldwin; brother, Glenn Schmidt and his wife, Georgia "Peaches" Schmidt; mother-in-law, Eleanore Schmale; niece, Heather R. Schmidt and her husband, Nick; nephew, Glenn "Marty" Schmidt and his wife, Alli; and niece, Darlene Schline and her husband John.
A combined celebration of life for Deanna and her mother, Mary Hildebrand, will be held on the family farm in Pasadena Sunday September 12th from 3-6pm. Please email celebrate.deanna.and.mary@gmail.com with any questions.
