Cynthia 'Cyn' A. Austin

Cynthia, a cherished resident of Gwynn Oak, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4th, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 24th, 1961, Cynthia lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her family and community.

A devoted homemaker, Cynthia's love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She raised her son, Michael Austin (Brittaney), as well as her late son Austin Alderede, with warmth and care. Her brother, Matthew Palmerino, and sister, Katherine Cardinale, were steadfast companions throughout her life. Cynthia is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember her love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Anthony Alexander Palmerino and Sarah Elizabeth Palmerino, and her siblings Mark Palmerino, Alex Palmerino, and Lori Hendricks.

Cynthia was a proud member of the Severn Christian Church since 1991, where she volunteered in many capacities, deeply embedding herself into the community she cherished. Her passion for quilting led her to join the Peacemakers quilting club, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her creative talents. Politically active, Cynthia was known for her strong convictions and commitment to making a difference.

Her love for travel and adventure was fulfilled through beach visits, family vacations, and camping excursions in her younger years. Cynthia was also known for her compassionate nature, often opening her home to those in need and helping raise two of her nieces.

A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held at Severn Christian Church in Severn, Maryland, on Friday, January 9th, 2026. An afternoon visitation will be conducted from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service officiated by Clyde McKinney at 12:00 pm.  Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Severn Christian Church HERE, honoring Cynthia's lifelong dedication to her faith and community.

She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
