Christopher Columbus Whitaker, 86, a 61 year resident of Glen Burnie, Maryland, died on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his residence

Mr. Whitaker was born on Friday, March 22nd, 1935 in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late John Calvin Whitaker and Vina E. Whitaker.

He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 43 years, retiring in 1996.

Mr. Whitaker was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where he loved to attend and help out in any way he could. He also loved going fishing.

In addition to his parents Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Whitaker his siblings; James Whitaker, Mae Reed, Estes Whitaker, Velma Johnson, Marcus Whitaker, Patrick Whitaker, Arcie Whitaker, and Billie Mac Whitaker.

He is survived by his sons, Timothy D. Whitaker and his wife, Deborah of Glen Burnie and Christopher G. Whitaker; daughters, Jennifer F. Purdham and her husband, Billy of Glen Burnie and Melissa R. Shifflett and her husband, Bruce of West Virginia, his siblings Carolyn Mullins, Clarence Whitaker, Russell Whitaker, and Wanda Jean Wright, 5 grandchildren, Kyle and Cara Whitaker, Amanda Michael, Lori Connell, and Jacob Shifflett, and 3 great grandchildren, Kylee Michael and Caitlyn and Hannah Connell.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 195 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146 where funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm.
