Charles "Charlie" A. Gassmann, Jr., 84, a 63 year resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Pasadena, MD, died at his home on June 5, 2021.
Mr. Gassmann was born on December 15, 1936 in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles Gassmann, Sr. and Margaret Griffith. As a young man, he served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years before starting a family together with his wife, Zella. He also spent 37 years working for National Brewery (later G. Heileman) where he worked as a warehouseman before transitioning to a delivery driver. After retiring from there, Charlie spent the next 14 years working in maintenance at Kinder Farm Park in Severna Park. He really enjoyed taking care of the grounds there and often got compliments for the quality of his work. Outside of work, he was a current member of Pasadena Assembly of God where he served as Trustee and was very involved in many different activities. When he wasn't at work or church, Charlie enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and doing projects around the house. He was a true handyman who could do a little bit of everything.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gassmann is preceded in death by his half-brother, Earl Gassmann. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 64 years, Zella Gassmann; sons, Chuck (Arlene) and Jeff (Chris) Gassmann; daughter, Terri (Scott) Poe; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pasadena Assembly of God, 206 Pleasantview Avenue, Pasadena MD 21122.
