Charles "Charlie" William Ryer Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on January 16th, 1938, in Pennsylvania, Charlie spent his entire life residing in the welcoming community of Pasadena, Maryland.
Charlie was a dedicated truck driver, spending his adult life on the road working for Baltimore Tank Lines, until his retirement in 2000. His commitment and work ethic left an enduring mark on those he worked with and knew throughout his career.
He was a proud gold card member of the Original Laurel Assembly and the Glen Burnie Moose, and he held membership with the Sons of the American Legion Post #34. In his younger years, Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, crabbing, and boating. A passionate sports fan, he gleefully supported the Baltimore Orioles and cheered enthusiastically for the Dallas Cowboys. He also had a lifelong love for NASCAR racing.
Charlie is survived by his loving children, Mark Ryer, and his fiancée Connie Gurley, and Donna Kenny. He is also survived by his sister, Joan, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory and his wit that brought joy to so many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Ryer Sr. and Ida Ryer, along with his son, Wayne Edward Ryer, Sr. and sisters, Nancy and Shirley.
A graveside service will be held to honor and remember Charlie's life on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Friends and family are invited to attend and share in celebrating the life of a man who meant so much to many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or Stallings Funeral Home to assist with the cost of the funeral.
Charles's legacy of love, humor, and simple pleasures will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
