Charles William Roland, 72, a 34 year resident of Pasadena, MD, died on December 24, 2020 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Roland was born on May 11, 1948 in Mussoorie, India to the late William Henry and Jean Adelade Roland. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1991, ultimately earning the rank of Tech Sergeant. After retiring from the military, Charles worked for several different organizations, including NSA, where he served as a Linguist for 10 years, Penta Software, and most recently the Census Bureau, where he served until the time of his passing. Outside of work, Mr. Roland enjoyed reading (especially Tom Clancy novels), traveling, watching Discovery Channel and military movies, and learning anything involving history. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Mr. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Roland; sons, Charles W. Roland, II and his wife, Lynn, and Daniel M. Roland; brother-in-law (whom he raised), John C. Faulkner; brothers, David and Paul Roland; sister, Mary Esther Boonaerts-Roland; and 2 grandchildren, Bailey A. Roland and Alaina R. Roland.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 3 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122. The funeral service and interment are private.
