It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Leonard Nale, who left us peacefully on Monday, December 29th, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on Monday, September 10th, 1934, in Cambria, Pennsylvania, Charles spent his final years as a beloved resident of Marydel, Maryland.
Charles was a man of many talents and wore numerous hats throughout his lifetime. He served his country honorably in the Army, an experience that instilled in him a keen sense of duty and discipline. His career as an inspector with Westinghouse showcased his perfectionist nature, a trait evident in every project he undertook. Known for his love of math and a knack for managing finances, Charles was respected for his meticulous approach to life.
Family was the cornerstone of Charles's life. Always surrounded by loved ones, he was never short of a joke or a playful tease. His love was expressed through his actions and humor; if he wasn't picking on you, you weren't entirely sure you were loved. Charles cherished the time spent with family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and also loved the companionship of his loyal dog, Mollie Mae. He was an active member of the VFW, where he cherished the camaraderie and shared values.
Charles is survived by his children, Sharon Louise Benson and her husband, James, and Charles Nelson Nale and his wife, Nanette. He was the proud grandfather of Pamela Mary Woolf, Stephen James Benson, Jennifer Margaret Nale, and Travis David Nale, and great-grandfather to Carter James Benson, Cooper Mark Benson, Taylor Mackenzie Young, Grace Violet Woolf, Dixie Rose Benson, Scott Brady Ellis, Sarah Nicole Nale, and Charles Leonard Nale. His legacy lives on in each of them, a testament to his life and love.
He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Shirley Lorraine Nale, his father, Charles N. Nale, his mother, Margaret M. Nale, his siblings, Lois Gamber, Erma Brilhart, Kenneth "Pete" Nale, Betty Cherney, and Robert "Bob" Nale, and grandchildren Christopher Richard Benson and Charles Leonard Nale.
A celebration of Charles's life will be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. Friends and family are invited to attend the afternoon visitation on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and the evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at 11:30 am. Interment will take place at Meadowridge Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we hold onto the countless memories and the love he shared with all who knew him. Charles Leonard Nale will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
