Charles G. Messerschmidt Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Charles spent his life enriching the community of Glen Burnie, Maryland, where he resided until his passing.
Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service, he dedicated 32 years of his life as a truck mechanic with Baltimore Tank Line in Glen Burnie, retiring in 2010. His passion for mechanics extended beyond his occupation; Charles was known for lending a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers in need of car repairs.
He cherished his time riding motorcycles and enjoyed the thrill and freedom it brought him. Charles's generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Paula Messerschmidt, and his children, Charles G. Messerschmidt III (Sue), Karen Messerschmidt (Rob), Lorraine Messerschmidt (Jay), Tina Utz (Kurt), and Amy Meyers (Steve). Charles is also survived by his brother, Ronald Messerschmidt, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles G. Messerschmidt Sr. and Catherine Thalheimer, as well as his sister, Janis Hartman.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during two visitations at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. The afternoon visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with military honors at 4:00 pm, followed by an evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
