Catherine McCabe Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Jane McCabe, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away on November 29th, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Butler, Pennsylvania, on February 21st, 1942, Catherine was a cherished resident of Pasadena, Maryland, and formerly of Girard, Ohio, where she lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth.

Catherine was the daughter of the late Julia Elizabeth Petrarca and James Arthur Filippone. She was predeceased by her brother, Jim Petrarca. She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Cindy Solley and Crystal Krason, who will continue her legacy of strength, compassion, and love. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Petrarca, and twin sister, Carmella Rees, as well as her son-in-laws, David Solley and Patrick Krason.

Her grandchildren, Lexi Solley, Maddie Solley, Jack Krason, Charlie Krason, and Ella Krason, were the light of her life. Catherine delighted in volunteering alongside her granddaughters with 4-H and was an avid supporter of the Baltimore Ravens, never missing a chance to cheer them on. Her love for the Ravens was matched by her passion for movies and soap operas, and she found joy in organizing, cleaning, and spending quality time playing card and board games with her family and friends.

Catherine was a woman of many talents. She started her career as a teller at Equitable Trust in Maryland and went on to successfully manage her own cleaning business. Despite her professional endeavors, her most cherished role was that of a devoted homemaker, giving selflessly to her family.

Her friends and family remember her as a reliable confidant, a good listener, and someone who embodied the spirit of kindness and generosity. She had an uncanny ability to make those around her feel valued and loved, and her warm presence was a comfort to many.

Friends and family are welcome to attend an afternoon visitation at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, to celebrate the remarkable life of this extraordinary woman. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at Our Lady of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland, on Monday, December 16th, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following funeral services at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Catherine will be dearly missed, but her loving spirit and vibrant memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. In her life, she gave much and asked for little in return, embodying the true essence of a giving and gentle soul. Rest in peace, Catherine; your legacy of kindness and love will never be forgotten.
