It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl "Charles" Edward Johnson, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who left us on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at the age of 80. Carl was a cherished resident of Millersville, Maryland, though his journey began in the beautiful state of Tennessee where he was born on Saturday, April 7th, 1945.
Carl's life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a genuine warmth that endeared him to all who knew him. He spent his career as a longshoreman, a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army, a true patriot who carried the values of honor and service throughout his life.
A man of simple pleasures, Carl found joy in fishing, shooting pool, playing cards, going golfing, shooting, bowling, and spending time at the racetrack where he could bet on the horses. Known for his stubbornness, he was also one of the nicest people you'd ever meet, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Johnson, his parents, Ed and Bonnie Marie Johnson, and his siblings, Albert Johnson, Kay Snyder, and Carolyn Palacios.
Carl leaves behind a loving family who will carry on his legacy: his children, Carl Johnson, Jr. and his wife Kerri, Eric Johnson and his wife Patricia, Crystal Clairaceea Jones and her husband Bob Jones, Tracey Shoaib and her husband Sam Malik, and Ryan Snyder. He was the brother to Timothy Johnson, Sr. and proud grandfather of Kaela, Erica, Kaiyah, and Kairon Johnson, and Ayan Shoaib, and the great-grandfather to Khaliah Abusakran, who will always remember him as a source of strength and warmth. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to honor Carl's memory at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will take place later that evening, at 8:00 pm. Interment is private.
Carl Edward Johnson Sr. may have left this world, but his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
