Bruce Michael Duke was born to Richard and Mary Lou Duke on August 2, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in the Glen Burnie area and attended Holy Trinity and Andover High School, graduating with the Class of 1972
While in school Bruce began employment at the National Security Agency and remained there for several years. He subsequently moved to the private sector, assuming increasingly responsible positions with many Top 100 Tech companies until his recent retirement in 2022.
His first marriage brought him Alexis and Paul Nizer, Frank and Charlene Kennell, and Chad and Rhonda Kennell. He became a devoted stepfather and grandfather- loving relationships which continued throughout his life.
In 2001, Bruce married a long-time friend, Anne “Annie” Powell of Annapolis, and together they created a warm and beautiful home in Severn, MD. Many happy family occasions and gatherings of friends were celebrated with Bruce and Annie in this house.
Bruce had a passion for classic muscle cars, swamp dog size steamed crabs, all animals but especially Ragdoll cats, watching the Ravens, and NASCAR. Favorite summer activities included driving Annie in his 1966 Thunderbird convertible with the top down or feasting on crabs around (or in) the backyard pool that he turned into a tropical paradise.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Marshall Powell Duke, his dear mother, Mary Lou, his sister Terri and brother-in-law Dennis Czorapinski, his brother Glen and sister-in-law Merrie, many adored nieces and nephews and their babies. The family is shocked and devastated by his unexpected death.
Bruce had many dear friends from his early clubbing years at wildly popular local nightspots such as “Mr. Pips”, “Bojangles” and “Johnny Walker’s”. He was a funny, caring, generous and classy guy who will be deeply missed by his family and many, many old and new friends.
