May 5, 1964- April 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we come together to announce the passing of are loving mother, Bethany Serenity Smith, age 61 on April 9, 2026. Serenity grew up in Elgin, Illinois area and went to Larkin High School. Her parents were the late Joesph Delaney and late Shirley Delaney including, two surviving brothers Dennis Delaney and Don Delaney.
She was a hard working person that was quiet in strength and humble. She enjoyed the simple sweet pleasures in life, country music, shopping trips, and gardening. When life got hard she spoke of the words, “ When the going gets tough you pull up your boot straps.” She spoke of words of inspiration and encouragement. She had a tender spot for those facing hardship- especially women in need and believed in lifting others up whenever she could. She wore her heart on her sleeve and continued to embrace that through her children.
She was survived by her children Kelly, Jayson, Robert, Tabitha, and Serenity. She will be deeply missed; and her strength, her values, and her spirit will carry on in each one of us.
“A mother’s hug lasts long after she let’s go.“
The family is having an intimate family ceremony to remember her life and we ask for privacy during this time.
