Barbara Ann Rinard, 86, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021 at Brightview Senior Living Community in Severna Park.
She was born on October 21, 1934 in Baltimore City. She lived on Fulton Avenue until moving to the “country,” which was the community of Manhattan Beach in Severna Park. She was a 1952 graduate of Annapolis High School, where she played on the softball team. Barbara used to take the train from Severna Park to Annapolis where she worked at G. C. Murphy Co. at the Annapolis City Dock. She married George T. Rinard, Sr. in 1953 and began her tour as a Navy wife. Barbara and George settled in the Rockview Beach community of Pasadena in 1959, where she lived for 60 years until moving to Brightview in 2019.
Barbara was a homemaker and worked in retail while raising her three children. She loved spending time with her family, and she loved animals, especially her dogs. She even had a dog that adopted her, when a German Shepherd named “Girl” jumped over the fence into her yard one day, and never left. Barbara had an artistic side and enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, and needlepoint. She made some of her favorite memories while visiting Ocean City with her family. Barbara loved using her computer, where she made pen pals across the world, created greeting cards for family and friends, and shopped online. She was a diehard fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Catherine “Cathy” Bellarin (George) of Pasadena, Patricia “Patty” Severin of Fort Wayne, IN, and George “Tom” Rinard, Jr. (Nancy) of Pasadena, and her precious pug, Suzy. She was the proud “Mimi” of 6 grandchildren (Ryane, Jesse, Eric, Adam, Christopher, and Matthew) and 4 great grandchildren (Quinn, Avery, Dash, and Carter). She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Sr, her sister Patricia Greer, her father Roy B. Johnson, Jr., and her mother J. Marie Johnson (n. Kalal).
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barbara’s name may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County or your local animal shelter. In honoring her wishes, a celebration of life and interment will be private.
